This week was the first week of classes. The schedule at LSE is very different from class schedules in The States. We take 4 year-long classes here that only meet once a week for the full year. So I really only have 4 hours of lecture each week. Then each lecture has a discussion counterpart which also meets once a week. So that gives me 8 hours of class a week. I need a hobby.
So Monday was day 1 of classes. I had 3 of my 4 classes on Monday. it was kinda rough. The first two, Work, Management and Globalization and my Human Resources class went really well. I really liked both my teachers, they were really nice and interesting to listen to and the content seemed interesting. My last class of the day, Environment, Economy and Society was something out of left field. I expected this class to be about social economics and marketplace environment influences on the economy. yea no. thats not what it was. the class was actually in the geography department, and the professor was talking about maps, and populations and language and processes of culture and all these things I had never heard of. He keeps referring to "it" and the entire time i just sat there and stared at him trying to figure out how these things he was saying were related.
what an experience. as soon as i left i knew i was switching out!
So i decided to pick up a class on Tuesdays called International Relations. Its about firms like the World Bank, IMF, NATO, UN and other stuff like that. The professor is really cool, he is new to LSE from Harvard where he has taught for like 7 years. So that is pretty cool. and he likes americans! yesss! Good decision.
I have my Financial Management and Capital Markets class on Friday.... i'm scurred. the syllabus looks intense. at least we are using an american textbook? I will let you know how it goes.
