Hello to my loyal reader(s)!
I hope everyone had a nice Superbowl Sunday yesterday. The result was extremely unfortunate, as the last team that I would ever want to win anything is the Packers. I am sure most of you Chicago readers feel the same way. Except for my traitor sister who actually CHEERED for the Packers "because they are from the midwest too." Good one Alex. Not acceptable.
But now I am going to stop pretending to care about football, and admit that I was way more excited for the commercials than the game itself. And then my dad crushed me last week by telling me that there would be no Superbowl commercials in London, since English consumers are not in the same market as American consumers and the ads were not aimed at an international market. UGHHHH.
Thankfully Hulu saved me once again by putting the ads on their website as they were shown on TV.
Another lame fact about watching the Superbowl in England-the time difference. Kick off was at 11:30pm here. Christina Aguilera messed up the national anthem at 11:24pm England time. Fergie took the stage and started singing at 1:39 am. I stopped paying attention to her at 1:40am.
BUT, I made the best of all these disappointments by throwing the best Superbowl party ever!! Full of British people.
I tried to make it as stereotypical American as I could so that I could once again prove that America>England.
So Jack and I reserved the lounge in the basement of our building that has a big TV and we planned a menu and gathered up a bunch of people that were willing to pretend to care about American football. We made buffalo wings with bleu cheese dip, hot chili dip, fresh guacamole, chocolate peanut butter pretzels and even had a vegetable tray! Whew. Also we got some budweiser to complete the experience. Here is a pic of the foodz. Don't drool too much.
And a pic of the crowd. well a bad picture of part of the crowd. Kinda feel like you were there?
